I and headway have developed HJ-OSAMURAISAN with a focus on good playability. This guitar is actually very easy to play because of various efforts including setting it up in low action with extra light strings. The design is based on Headway HJ-523 I have been using for many years. While HJ-523 is an expensive guitar, HJ-OSAMURAISAN belongs to more affordable price range and yet produces good tone.
What is the definition of a “good tone”? It is something subjective, and different kinds of tones are demanded depending on music genres or playing styles. On the other hand, “good playability” is more universal. One can play the guitar better if the guitar is easier to play. If you are just beginning to learn how to play the guitar and hope to play various styles, I think it is most important to look for a guitar that is easy to play on.
Traditionally Japanese people have an idea called “you-no-bi”, that means beauty derives from functionality. Japanese think that seeking functionality will eventually result in creation of the beauty. If you have ever started learning the guitar and stopped it because you felt it was too difficult to play, please give a try to this guitar. I believe it is much easier to play on than the one you had before. If you are about to start learning the guitar from now, you may want to try various models for comparison and hopefully you will choose HJ-OSAMURAISAN.
It is important the first guitar you will get is easy and comfortable enough to play. You can seek after your own style and sound after getting used to playing the guitar.
Though our main was the playability I also want to mention about the sound at last. It sounds more than good enough and eventually you might not need to look for another guitar after getting this one.
All the best
