Matsumoto

Matsumoto Edition松本エディション

Matsumoto Castle, the symbol of Matsumoto, is the oldest of the 12 existing castle towers with six internal stories and five external stories, and its majestic black lacquered appearance is particularly impressive. Cherry blossoms bloom along the moat surrounding the castle, and the beauty of the seasons is also reflected in the water lilies in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snow in winter.

Since 2014, Deviser’s “Sakura Guitar” has also continued to “create guitars with a story” with the expression of the four seasons at its core. The “Matsumoto Edition” model combines the elegance of Matsumoto Castle and scenes of the four seasons in its design. It features a black color to resemble the castle keep and four different designs representing spring, summer, fall, and winter. From Matsumoto, the holy land of guitar manufacturing, the appeal of Matsumoto Castle will be conveyed to the world.

Shared Features

Matsumoto Castle
松本城

Matsumoto Castle, with its distinctive silhouette including the outer five-story castle keep, is incorporated throughout. The design is designed to fit in with the guitar by focusing on the outline, and is expressed in a solid silhouette.

G clef Inlay

Ink Black Color
墨黒

The body is colored in “ink black” to resemble the castle keep of Matsumoto Castle. The black tones that allow the grain of the Sakura wood to show through are difficult to achieve, and the coloring was done with the skill and sensibility of a craftsman who has painted many guitars.

Pickguard

The pickguard includes an inlay design according to the four seasons around Matsumoto Castle, with colorful designs of cherry blossoms in spring, water lilies in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snowflakes in winter.

3-piece Sakura wood body back

The Sakura wood on the back and sides of the body, which is the most distinctive feature of the Sakura Guitar, produces what we describe as a “Sakura sound” with a distinctive mid-range tone. The center of the body back is made of Kaede (Japanese Maple), another Japanese wood material, with a design of the four seasons and a graceful koi fish, inspired by the Matsumoto Castle moat.

Binding

Natural black-lip pearl oyster are used for the body binding, creating a luxurious image while matching the black body color.

Sound hole cover

The design of the soundhole cover incorporates the Matsumoto symbol into the design.

Woman with Japanese umbrella

On the body back is a design of a woman holding a Japanese umbrella, which has been the theme of Sakura guitars in recent years. The image is of a figure standing by the edge of the moat at Matsumoto Castle.

Features

Headstock

The headstock features a bold silhouette of Matsumoto Castle. The outline is used to create a sophisticated atmosphere.

Hardware

For the machineheads, which are responsible for tuning stability, and the bridge, which supports the sound, we have selected domestic, Japan-made parts, mainly GOTOH® hardware, which are highly reliable. It is our important belief that the instrument can be used in a variety of situations, and not only being attractive visually.

Pickups

Momose’s original pickups were selected for the microphone that picks up the sound of the strings and creates the sound you hear when playing. It produces a pure, versatile sound.

Pickguard

Four colors are selected for the pickguard for each model to match spring, summer, fall, and winter. The specially ordered acrylic material is used to express cherry blossoms in spring, water lilies in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snow in winter in resin.

JRP Guitars

We began working on guitars made from Japanese red pine in 2017. It all started when we heard about the damage caused by the pine weevil, which had become a major problem in Nagano Prefecture, where our company is located. We learned that pine trees with insect holes, knots, and stains were not preferred for furniture and building materials, which were their original uses, and many of those felled trees ended up just being burned.

赤松
OMINAMI Landscaping

About OMINAMI Landscaping is a landscaping company based in Sango, Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture. The unique landscaping style “NIWA-RIUM”, which translates to “Garden-rium” (Garden + Aquarium) is a unique style of landscaping, Japanese Red Pine trees are placed within the enclosure to create an impressive fusion of traditional Japanese and modern styles.

Akamatsu

Features

Body

While inheriting the German curve around the perimeter of the body that was the trademark of the first Akamatsu guitars, it has a retro look as if it were discovered decades ago in an old garage. The name “CONTINENTAL,” is a reference to the distinctive body shape.

Aged Processing

The knots and stains of the felled red pine make each piece unique, and the body, headstock, and metal parts have been aged to blend in with the overall design.

Modernized and practical specifications

Controls and specifications have been updated for modern use. We aimed for a player-oriented design that is intended to be up to spec to be used on stage.

Bacchus STP-1

Equipped with Bacchus’ original P-90 type “STP-1”. The mix tone with the vintage and chunky bridge position gives high versatility and expressiveness, as well as the sharp and deep tone at the neck position, which is characteristic of the wide-turn P.U.. This pickup is a good match with the Japanese Red Pine body, which is characterized by its light sound.
