Introduction

Bacchus Japan Tune-up Series

The Japan Tune-up Series (commonly abbreviated as the “JT Series”) is a lineup with a focus on playability that has been carefully tuned and set up by a specialized team in our local Matsumoto City, in Nagano Prefecture, that focuses on maximizing playability and all aspects that would improve the player’s experience. Inheriting the spirit of the Bacchus Handmade Series that started in 2001, the JT Series offers players instruments that are in top condition straight out of the box and ready to tackle any challenge.

Walnut top

*The grain pattern of walnut varies from model to model.

Walnut, known as an exotic wood, is used for the body top. Walnut is a member of the walnut family, which is native to North America and is used for furniture and flooring, and is one of the three most famous woods in the world.

An open-pore finish is used, in which the pores of the wood are not filled in with any sealant, and only an extremely thin coating is applied, leaving as much of the wood’s texture and grain as possible.

Slim body inherited from the WOODLINE series

It inherits the downsized shape body of the “WOODLINE” series, which was developed in the “Handmade” series. The body is slightly slimmer than a typical JB-type electric bass, which provides excellent playability. Black binding is applied around the perimeter of the body to give it a high-class, tight look.

Brass neck plate with special attention to detail

This original neck plate is made of brass with high specific gravity. It is heavier than conventional products and features a dense bass tone that extends into the mid-low range.

Active circuit for flexible sound creation

※The image shows another model with the same specifications.

Like the active models in the Handmade series, this model features a 2-band EQ to allow for intricate sound-making during performance. By switching the mini-switch, it can also be used as a passive bass.

Roasted maple neck with increased rigidity

The popular roasted maple neck, a new Bacchus classic, is also used in this model. The heat treatment not only makes the neck highly rigid and resistant to warping but also produces an aged sound with a good attack.

■ About the JT Series

The most important feature is the final tuning process, carried out by our experienced Japanese craftsmen. At the specialized division within the Deviser Technical Center located meters away from the Aska Workshop, each instrument undergoes individual tuning tailored to its specific characteristics.

In addition to the above work, string action adjustment and final finishing of the fingerboard, which directly affect playability, are also thoroughly performed as tune-up items.

In addition to fret rounding and nut filing, we meticulously perform string action adjustments and give the fingerboard a final adjustment, all tasks which directly impact playability as part of our tuning-up process. New guitars and basses often come with various playability issues, but the JT Series maintains this commitment to giving the player an instrument that is in top condition straight out of the box.
