Introducing a New Bass with a Spruce Top and Semi-Hollow Body [Deviser Special Showcase 2026]

The “Deviser Special Showcase 2026” will be held on Friday, May 22. With just about 10 days left until this event, where limited-edition models and new releases will be showcased all at once, the countdown is on.
In this preview article, we’ll be featuring the “WL-JAZZ,” a model with an acoustic vibe. This new model, which boasts a simple yet elegant design, is joining the Bacchus Japan Tune-up Series lineup.
About the Bacchus Japan Tune-up Series
The “WL-JAZZ” model featured in this article is part of the Bacchus Japan Tune-up Series—commonly known as the “JT Series.” Designed with the goal of allowing players to start using them right away, each instrument is meticulously adjusted and set up, one by one, by a dedicated division in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture.

Carrying on the spirit of the Handmade Series, Bacchus’s premium line launched in 2001, we have continued to produce instruments from this series that deliver the highest level of performance to date.
Ahead of the major trade show, we’d like to introduce the “WL4-JAZZ” and “WL5-JAZZ-AC” models from this lineup.
「WL4-JAZZ」、「WL5-JAZZ-AC」

The two new models, the “WL4-JAZZ” and “WL5-JAZZ-AC,” live up to their “JAZZ” names with a design that evokes the spirit of a jazz guitar. While maintaining a sleek, refined appearance, they feature meticulous specifications that rival those of higher-end models.
Solid spruce top with a semi-hollow construction

First and foremost, the 5mm-thick solid spruce top deserves special mention. Spruce is a standard choice for many acoustic guitars, and this feature alone is enough to deliver a rich acoustic tone. The body is crafted from okoumé, a wood with characteristics similar to mahogany, which contributes to the instrument’s warm sound.

The semi-hollow design featuring an F-hole incorporates a cavity within the body, resulting in a lighter instrument than standard basses and delivering a resonant, airy tone unique to semi-hollow designs.
Decor that adds a touch of sophistication to simplicity

Gold accents with a rich luster are incorporated throughout the design, adding a touch of glamour and sophistication to the overall look. The rope-style tortoiseshell-pattern binding around the body’s perimeter beautifully highlights its contours and gives the design a polished finish.
An ebony fingerboard, as found on high-end models

Ebony is a wood known for its deep, rich black appearance. It is prized for its quick attack and sharp tone, making it a premium material often used in high-end models. Combined with the spruce top, this configuration captures the essence of jazz guitar models that have captivated audiences for generations.
Natural tones that blend seamlessly into the space

The two colors in the lineup, NA (Natural) and ASB (Amber Sunburst), both feature finishes that highlight the soft tones of the spruce top. Whether you’re relaxing at home or performing on stage under the spotlight, the elegant appearance of these understated finishes blends seamlessly with any setting.
