The Beautiful World of Momose, Woven from Traditional Japanese Materials【One Day Guitar Show 2026】

In this article, we’re providing a sneak peek at the models scheduled to be featured at the “Deviser One Day Guitar Show 2026,” for which a special website is set to launch on November 22. The Momose brand is once again preparing a wide range of products this year that focus on domestically sourced “Japanese timber”. In addition to using iconic Japanese woods such as Sakura (Japanese Cherry) and Tochi (Japanese Horse Chestnut), we incorporate the origins of these woods into our designs and color schemes, creating one-of-a-kind instruments through the skilled craftsmanship of our artisans. We’re excited to give you a sneak peek into the beautiful world of Japanese wood, featuring guitars that can only be created by a Japanese brand.

“Kyoto Tochi”- infused with a love for the ancient capital of Kyoto

While the origin of the wood typically used in guitars is rarely specified, by sourcing wood before it is milled for guitar production, Deviser has consistently crafted models using a wide variety of domestic woods from across Japan. At this year’s One Day Guitar Show, we are introducing a limited-edition model made from Tochi wood from Kyoto Prefecture. Named “Kyoto-tochi”, this model features the white grain of Tochi, known as a premium wood, finished in a deep purple that evokes the image of the capital city of Kyoto.

Although Tochi wood features a variety of grain patterns depending on the individual piece, the wood used here is characterized by its wide flame grain. The vivid gradient, which deepens toward the outer edges of the body, preserves the wood’s natural color. We’ve also applied inlays featuring a Tochi leaf motif to the fingerboard and headstock, infusing the instrument with our appreciation for the wood and its place of origin.

The Latest in the Sakura Series!
“Satsuma Sakura” made with Sakura wood from Kagoshima Prefecture

As the latest addition to the “Sakura Guitar” series, which has become synonymous with Momose, we plan to announce the “Satsuma Sakura”, featuring cherry wood from Kagoshima Prefecture for the body top. As shown in the photo of the body before finishing, the wood is positioned so that the white portion of the Sakura wood appears in the center, and the coloring is designed to highlight the wood’s unique character.

We are currently creating designs for the pickguard, fingerboard, and headstock that combine motifs symbolic of Kagoshima with cherry blossoms. Details on each design will be announced on the day of the event!

A magnificent model themed around the Year of the Horse

A special model inspired by the 2026 Chinese zodiac sign, “Year of the Horse”, is currently in production. Based on the “ML” model with a set neck, just like last year’s Year of the Snake, this guitar features Sakura wood on the body top. The inlay design, featuring a dynamic galloping horse and cherry blossom petals, was created from scratch specifically for this project and is meticulously hand-assembled by artisans using generous amounts of natural mother-of-pearl. Furthermore, we are planning a collaboration for the body with “Karuizawa-Carving”, a traditional Japanese craft, to create a magnificent and resplendent finish that will serve as a highlight of this event. Please look forward to seeing the finished product!
