Founded in 2002, Momose Custom Craft Guitars is an electric guitar and bass brand that embodies the philosophy and craftsmanship of instrument making established by master luthier Yasuo Momose. While inheriting traditional guitar forms, Momose instruments incorporate unique attention to detail in their specifications and design. Thanks to our customers, the number of people who appreciate our instruments has grown year after year, and we have received overwhelming support from players worldwide.

In the summer of 2025, due to strained production capacity at our workshop, we were forced to temporarily suspend accepting new orders, causing delays for many customers. However, we viewed this situation as an opportunity for reassessment and thoroughly re-examined the fundamental specifications of Momose products to deliver items of even higher quality.
This page introduces the new specifications and features Momose guitars are receiving this 2026.

Renewed Momose New Specifications [General]

We have refined the detailed specifications while preserving the hallmarks of Momose since its founding. Meticulous handcrafting by skilled artisans who discern the character of each piece of wood; intricate craftsmanship exemplified by wood binding matching the fingerboard material and recessed neck plates; and a thin top lacquer finish. Below is a summary of both new specifications and modified specifications for the renewed Momose models produced from 2026 onwards.

01

New pickups

Affected models: Original Series MC、MT、MJS、MJ

To pursue a sound that evolves with the times, we developed new pickups through trial and error with various specification changes, including magnet selection and alterations to wire material and winding counts. For the new “Awake” series single-coil pickups for electric guitars, we pursued the optimal sound for each position, adjusting the balance by using different magnets depending on the position. True to its name, this pickup embodies the image of awakening the player’s expressiveness and creativity.
The new “Gravitas” pickup for electric bass delivers a sound with a lower center of gravity and greater thickness compared to conventional Momose pickups, while retaining the characteristic Momose tonal contour. For more detailed information, please see each product page.

※Individual model product pages are scheduled for release on February 6, 2026.
※The Modern Virtuoso series features the same Mojotone® pickups as previous models.

Centralab® Oil Capacitor

Affected Models: All models

With the development of new pickups, we also revisited the capacitor selection. From numerous candidates, we adopted Centralab’s oil-filled capacitor based on pickup compatibility and other factors. It offers excellent responsiveness to the player’s nuances and a bright, forward-projecting sound, creating a new Momose tone.

03

Luminlay phosphorescent material side dots

Affected Models: All models

All models feature Luminlay photoluminescent material for side position markers, which stores light and emits it in darkness. This specification is highly valued in darker or more dimly lit live houses and concert halls, and enjoys strong support from professional musicians. It reduces the risk of losing sight of your position in the dark.

04

Puretone® Jack

Affected Models: All models

All models feature Puretone® jacks, renowned for their secure hold and low noise. Unlike conventional jacks with separate hot and cold terminals, each Puretone® jack incorporates two hot and two cold terminals. This dual-sided design ensures a firm grip on the plug. Resistant to loosening even after prolonged use, it delivers stable performance to support your playing.

05

Flatter Fingerboard for Diverse Playing Styles

Affected Models: MC, MT, MJS, MJ(4-string), MJ24(4-string)

The fingerboard radius has been changed from a rounded 210R to a flatter 310R. This allows for an even lower string action setting than before, making it easier to tackle technical playing that requires fast fretting.

※210R = 8 1/4“ 310R = 12 1/5” The 5-string bass models remain unchanged at 400R (≈ 15 3/4 inches).
